How to Style Ballet Flats

Ballet flats are women's shoes for everyday wear which are inspired by ballet shoes, with a very thin heel or no heel at all. Most often very elegant and settled. I love ballet flats, they are the most versatile shoes that go with almost everything, except your active outfits. You can wear them to school, to work, or to shows. I love to wear them with skirts and dresses, but jeans work perfectly with them as well. In this blog, I will explore the different ways you can wear ballet flats!

Style 1 - Classic Dresses

Growing up I've always wanted a pair of Repetto because they look exactly like a pair of ballet shoes and come with so many colors. I've always liked their presentation in the store! To me, these shoes go so well with any gentle feminine dress as long as the shoes match the color of the dress. I would not wear a pair of black ballet flats with a pink dress. White maybe, but a pink dress is always better with a pair of pink ballet flats.

Style 2 - Shirts and Jeans

If you are not a dress gal like me, ballet flats also match your jeans perfectly. I like navy blue or black ballet flats when I wear jeans. Jeans are also my regular office outfit.

The main thing about matching jeans and ballet flats is to pick the right color. You want your ballet flats to match the color of your shirt in some ways. It doesn't have to be the exact match, though most of the time a navy blue top goes well with navy blue ballet flats, a pair of black ballet flats can never go wrong with the navy blue top, in fact, you want to match it slightly: a baby blue shirt can match with a Tiffany blue ballet flat.

Style 3 - Skirt, Long or Short

While they go well with jeans and pants, Miumiu even makes them punk-like. But, ballet flats to me always symbolize feminism and elegance. So, similar to how dresses are the perfect match for ballet flats, skirts, too. They are the ideal match for ballet flats.

Regardless the colors, fabrics, or designs of the skirts, a pair of nude leather ballet flats always complete the looks! Jo Mercer makes really cute leather ballet flats.

The most important thing is that you want to match the style. As mentioned, a punk, edgy ballet flat might not go well with lady dress that is baby pink.

Style 4 - Loose Outfit

A baggy outfit can also go well with ballet flats! But for a baggy outfit I'm not talking about the grunge style but a loose comfy and warm-feeling outfit. After all you want a lady touch to this style.

But yes, you can still be cool and feminine in your ballet flat. The baggy style can be tight up with your ballet flat to neutralize the cool and cute.

I noticed that recent years, with one or more straps across the instep, ballet flats are getting more like our classic mary jane. I do not blame, fashion is about cycles.
