Fashion Silhouettes Timeline

 1933-35

By Pauline Weston Thomas for Fashion-Era.com

Fashion Silhouettes Timeline Drawings 1933 to 1935

The fashion history era between 1933 and 1935 is one which shows a new line, a new silhouette. I have studied costume drawings and fashion plates of the thirties and then I have redrawn them in my own style. After I made these simple line drawings I finally enhanced aspects such as patterns with computer software.  On this page the costume drawings show just some of the fashion history silhouette body shape outlines between 1933 and 1935.  Each thumbnail enlarges to produce an A4 print and is suitable for colouring in and producing timeline scenes, collage foundation guides or guidelines for amateur dramatics.

Like many costume enthusiasts, I sometimes need a basic costume history line image for a specific year.  These fashion images should give you a clear understanding of the changing lines and variety of silhouettes.  As a result you can date a picture within a few years of costume history.  This also makes them very useful when dating the line of vintage dress.

On this page look out for the waist sat at its natural position longer bias cut and inverted pleated skirt.  Clothes sometimes show softness in sleeves and yokes although tailored garments are often sharp and snappy with crisp lines.  Emphasis is still on clinging fabrics moulding round the hips and full length evening dresses are de rigueur.  The 1930s was a very stylish decade.  My original detailed text information on the 1930s can be found in the main section on the Stylish Thirties.
