Fashion Silhouettes Timeline

 1926-1927

By Pauline Weston Thomas for Fashion-Era.com

Fashion Silhouettes Timeline Drawings 1926-1927

I've studied costume drawings and fashion plates of the fashion era between 1926 and 1927.  Then I have sketched these simple line drawings and finally enhanced aspects such as fur trims, and patterns with computer software.  The drawings further below on this page show some of the silhouette body shape outline between 1926-27.  Each thumbnail expands to produce an A4 print and is suitable for colouring in. You could also use the pictures to produce timeline scenes or collage foundation guides.

Like many costume enthusiasts, on occasions I need a simple fashion history line image of a specific year.  These images should give you a clear understanding of the changing lines and variety of silhouettes within a few years of 1920's fashion history.  On this page look out for the dropped waist, much much shorter skirt lengths that reach the knees, straight exceptionally long tunic bodices and wrap effect coats.  Skirts were at their highest during these years of the 1920s.  In costume history terms Twenties clothes look very much like they belong in the C20th rather than in another century.  This was the first time in female fashion history in Britain that the dress worn revealed the leg to the knee.

My original detailed text information on the 1920s can be found here in the main section at Flapper Fashion.  You may also be interested in the link to the Stylish Thirties.
